The Lincoln Continental Mark IV debuted in 1972, at the very peak of American automotive power. Before the oil crisis hit, this was how vehicles were designed to cater to the driver, belonging to the “personal luxury” category. Only one pair of doors highlighted the driver's status, while five additional seats allowed him to take along several passengers when needed. With a length of 5.7 m and over 2 m in width, it had the dimensions of a true cruiser, and its interior resembled nothing that was being designed anywhere else in the world at that time.
